SSX Online Pass Detailed, Shockingly Tame

January 31, 2012 by Josh Harmon

No game modes or content will be locked away behind the code, though only those with a pass can earn credits online.

Yesterday, we reported that the upcoming SSX reboot would be shipping with an Online Pass code, though we weren't certain how much of the game would be blocked off to secondhand buyers. Now, EA has informed us that the answer is… nothing at all.

Surprisingly enough, anyone with a copy of SSX, new or used, will still be able to play through all the single-player Explore content and participate in as many of the game's online multiplayer Global Events as they'd like. The only real diffference is that those without an Online Pass will be unable to collect credits while they're playing online.

Even still, EA says you'll still be able to unlock everything in the game with credits you've earned offline, although it might take a bit longer. And should you eventually decide to pony up the $10 for the Online Pass code, you'll be retroactively awarded every last credit you've ever earned playing online.

All told, that's not too bad. In fact, it's downright sensible, especially in comparison to some other recent approaches we've seen.
