Starfield Is Going Into Early Access In Five Days

August 28, 2023 by Ryan Parreno

Todd Howard may have waited 25 years to execute this vision, but some fans couldn’t even wait two weeks.

Bethesda has posted a tweet promoting the Early Access period for Starfield is coming up soon.

In fact, it’s scheduled for September 1, 2023. That means those gamers who have been thirsting to get their hands on the game, and have paid for Early Access, won’t have to wait any longer than this Friday to get to play it.

For Todd Howard, this is the culmination of a 25 year old dream. Of course, Bethesda had to wait before the technology was available to make Todd’s vision come true, However, much like Nintendo holding off on adding Miis to the Family Computer all the way back in the 1980s, Bethesda practiced patience, and waited for the right time to make it happen, when everything they needed came together.

Funnily enough, they quickened things up just a little bit when they went gold a little bit earlier than expected, and so moved up the dates, including for Early Access. But even that slight jump was not enough for some gamers.

We had reported on a bad faith individual, who seemed to do everything possible to hurt Bethesda and Microsoft for launching Starfield. This person leaked Starfield in every way possible – posting a lot of footage online, posting spoilers in places where you can’t avoid them, like Twitter, and even selling copies of the game. No, not making his own copies, but selling copies he seemingly stole from somewhere.

That person has been arrested and is facing several real and damaging charges, more serious than spoiling video game footage. As reported by Kotaku, there is primarily a felony charge for what’s estimated to be $ 2,500 to 10,000 of stolen property. There’s also a misdemeanor for having $ 1,000 or less of stolen property. Finally, there’s a second misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana.

Microsoft knows their marketing machine has been successful to a fault, as many people have been trying to get as many spoilers and leaks as they can. So, this is an extra special message to remind everyone that it’s no longer one or two weeks before they can see it. They can start playing the game as soon as this Friday, if they squeeze in to pay for Early Access. Of course, if you already have Game Pass, the smart move is just to wait. You’ll get the game without having to pay more.

Starfieldwill be releasing on September 6, 2023, on Xbox Series X|S and Windows via Steam. It will also be Day One on Game Pass.
