The Cast For The Next Naughty Dog IP Live-Action Adaptation Was Potentially Leaked

August 18, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what is circulating the web right now.

There’s no shortage of rumors and speculation when it comes to the video game industry. You’ll find something popping up regularly. However, because there’s been quite a bit of success lately when it comes to adapting video games into films or television series, we’re starting to see more rumors surface online as to what’s next. Thanks to a report from Insider Gaming, we have a new rumor that is suggesting Naughty Dog’s next IP being adapted has leads. If you’re unaware, the new video game franchise to potentially get a cinematic experience next will be Jak and Daxter.

This information is coming from MyTimeToShineHello on Twitter. According to the Twitter account, who claims that Sony is eyeing a few individuals to help bring this adaptation to life. In particular, the director that is involved with this movie is Ruben Fleischer. If you don’t know this individual by name, you might have seen some of the movies he directed or produced. For instance, the director brought out Venom in 2018. However, more importantly, Ruben has some work with a previous franchise from Sony.

You’ll find that Ruben Fleischer also directed the Uncharted movie. Fortunately, if this rumor proves to be right, we also know two individuals that will be leading the iconic roles of Jak and Daxter. According to MyTimeToShineHello, the movie will feature Tom Holland as Jak while Chris Pratt will lend his voice to Daxter. Again, both have had some solid credits lately for video game-adapted films. Tom Holland played the role of a young Nathan Drake for Uncharted, while Chris Pratt voiced Mario from the recent The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

Again, this is only a rumor right now, as nothing official has come out. We haven’t seen Jak and Daxter either in quite some time. If this movie does come to fruition, it would be interesting to see if the video game franchise is picked back up once again. Likewise, with the amount of success Sony has had with Uncharted and The Last of Us adaptations, we’re sure that this is just the start of a series of live-action adaptations for their long line of IP exclusives. The only question is, what would be the next game to receive this cinematic treatment?
