There is no shortage of horror multiplayer games. We’ve seen a boom lately in asymmetrical multiplayer titles that adapt popular horror IPs. For instance, Dead by Daylight is one video game that continues to see massive appeal. The game takes a group of survivors and pins them on a map to escape. The problem here is that we have one antagonist monster from one of the countless popular horror IPs hunting you down. But a new game in the works that will be released this month offers a similar concept. However, instead of just one killer, we’re dealing with a group of four killers. Today, we’re finding out that the upcoming The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game won’t feature any balanced enemies.
If you have been keeping tabs on Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you might already have the game a chance. A previous test offered some players a chance to give the title a chance. However, with the game soon gearing up to release to the masses, it’s worth pointing out that players will find unbalanced killers. Thanks to PCGamesN, we have some new insight into what the developers opted for. The publication had the chance to speak with Gun Interactive’s creative director, Ronnie Hobbs. During their conversation, Robbie noted that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre development team quickly dropped attempts to make the gameplay balanced.
According to Robbie, the idea of making things balanced for players was quickly dropped. Instead, the focus went to ensuring that players would have survivors with strong abilities to escape or survive. However, it’s noted that the game’s enemies should always feel powerful and deadly. Mistakes on survivors should cost them rather harshly, so don’t expect killers in this game to lose their abilities or effectiveness as the game match progresses.
We never want to take the power away from the Family, or make them seem like they aren’t in control. So while they might be outnumbered, they should always feel deadly and capable of making Victims pay for their mistakes. Our design philosophy was that it’s okay to have powerful family members, even slightly unbalanced ones, as long as the Victims had equally powerful stats, abilities, or gameplay features that could help them get away.

Meanwhile, this is not Gun Interactive’s first attempt at bringing out a horror film IP and turning it into a multiplayer gameplay experience. You might recall that they were involved with Friday the 13th: The Game. However, licensing issues quickly caused that game to get killed off after release. Fortunately, we already know that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre won’t feature a similar fate.
If you haven’t kept tabs on this game, you can expect it to launch into the marketplace on August 18, 2023. When The Texas Chain Saw Massacre launches, you’ll find it available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
