Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Official PC System Requirements Confirmed

July 18, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Can your PC run it?

There was a big move these past few years for Sony. This company had kept its first-party exclusive line on its official PlayStation hardware for several console generations. However, they made some headlines when they finally decided to open their collection of titles on the PC platform. PC gamers are slowly getting their first-party titles, and it’s not something we expect to change anytime soon. If you want to enjoy those big-name PlayStation 5 exclusives at launch or within a year or two from when they are released, you’ll need to own a PlayStation 5 console. But one of the next exclusives to find its way onto the PC will be Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

From the developers Insomniac Games, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the ninth installment to this franchise and a sequel to the 2013’s release, Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus. The game was initially released back in 2021 for the PlayStation 5, with the big focus of this installment being the ability to zip through different dimensions quickly. This was highlighted on the PlayStation 5 for the smooth transitions and loading of the different game assets, and that’s something that should carry over onto the PC platform. While Insomniac Games handled the PlayStation 5 release, the PC port was taken care of by Nixxes.

Taking to the official PlayStation Blog, the Nixxes developers offered some insight into how they were able to pull off some of the notable features, such as the quick transitions on the PC platform. For instance, the team implemented DirectStorage 1.2, which pulls off quick loading times along with GPU decompression. So that should also allow those with even traditional hard disk drives to experience fast transitions within the game. But it’s noted that using an SSD is still recommended.

Regardless, as you can view in the chart above, there is quite a wide range of settings available and what you can expect to receive performance-wise from these settings. So those with the latest and greatest hardware should be able to push the performance quite a bit on this game. Likewise, those that might have some older hardware should still have the game playable. Of course, mileage could vary, so it’s best to stick with the charts for a general idea of how your PC might handle this upcoming game.

As mentioned, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has already been released on the PlayStation 5. However, those on PC can expect the game on July 26, 2023. In the meantime, for a more in-depth look into the campaign and gameplay, we have a Before You Buy video coverage. Please note that this is for the PlayStation 5 version of the game when it initially launched and might not accurately represent the gameplay experience for the upcoming PC release.
