Ghostrunner 2 has been revealed at the PlayStation Showcase today and is set to release in 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
During the PlayStation Showcase today 505 Games have announced that Ghostrunner 2 is set to make its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC later this year.
Making the announcement at the PlayStation Showcase, 505 Games has elaborated further on Ghostrunner 2 saying:
Set one year after the critically acclaimed sci-fi smash, Ghostrunner 2 sees cyber ninja protagonist Jack emerging from the deathtrap of Dharma Tower for the first time to explore the sprawling wasteland beyond… Featuring intense fast-paced-push-forward combat, and deeply challenging gameplay, the sequel promises to up the ante from the original in every conceivable way.

Following on from this, 505 Games also noted that vehicular combat would be available in Ghostrunner 2 with Jack set to be able to ride a brand-new motorcycle. With new upgrades and powers set to make their way to the series in the latest installment 505 Games also noted that Ghostrunner 2 would include “an expanded narrative, deeper world-building, and devilish new enemies.” While the game is self-described as “the ultimate power fantasy” we’ll have to wait and see what that entails in the future as the title is set to drop at some point in 2023 as a full release date has not yet been announced.
The original game received rave reviews from players and critics alike with its current overall Steam score sitting at a ‘Very Positive’ rating out of over 36,000 reviews as well as an 81/100 rating on Metacritic. Polygon reviewed the game by saying, “One of the best platformers of the year is in … first person?… Ghostrunner nails platforming with all the grace of a cyborg ninja.” Alongside this, God is a Geek noted that Ghostrunner’s “story is solid, the world is beautiful, and the precision insane.”
Fans of the original are likely in for more of the same with some more additions and honestly for a series like Ghostrunner that’s not a bad thing. The original’s fast and frantic gameplay makes for some of the best first-person platforming we’ve seen since Mirror’s Edge so here’s hoping 505 Games can make another great Ghostrunner title.
Ghostrunner 2 to is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC via Steam. Unlike the original, it will not be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Switch.
