The Super Mario Bros Movie is launching on streaming platforms later tonight.
As reported by Wario64, The Super Mario Bros Movie goes live on streaming at 9 PM PT. It will be available on 4K UHD.
You can watch the movie on these platforms:
This movie is also available on Movies Anywhere, as service owned by Disney. Hilariously enough, between Disney, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon, Nintendo has their major competitors selling their movie for them.
This follows recent news that The Super Mario Bros Movie has amassed a worldwide box office gross of $1,210,450,015. While it isn’t really meaningfully competing with The Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in theaters, it has amassed quite a lead, and rising, that The Super Mario Bros Movie may remain entrenched as the highest grossing movie of the year.
As reported by Nintendo Everything, this current box office record means that The Super Mario Bros Movie is now Illumination Studios’ most successful film. It is now also the fourth highest grossing animated film of all time.
Nintendo themselves have chimed in on the movies success. Current Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa pointed out that Nintendo’s ultimate goal with this movie is to increase exposure of Mario to current and potential future customers. On his end, Shigeru Miyamoto, who was directly involved in the movie itself, said that its success exceeded his own expectations. Miyamoto also opines that the movie would not have been as notorious as it became even on its own strengths, and so the torrent of bad critic reviews actually helped make the film become even more successful.
Of course, if you are a physical collector, you may choose to buy the movie in Blu-Ray or 4k disc formats as well. You can do so in the links below.
You can read the description Nintendo and Illumination are sharing for the movie on their streaming and physical release below.
“The movie tells the story of two Brooklyn plumbers who are brothers and best friends: Mario, the brave one with the “let’s-a go” attitude, and the perpetually anxious Luigi, who would prefer to go nowhere. We open with the Super Mario Brothers reckoning with their struggling plumbing business, and wind up in a whirlwind adventure through Mushroom Kingdom. Through their journey, we meet a cast of familiar, lovable characters, ultimately uniting together to defeat the power-hungry villain, Bowser. The Super Mario Bros. Movie takes what millions of gamers worldwide have loved for thirty-five years and levels it up to a new and breathtaking cinematic experience.”
