The Kickstarter-backed Hyper Light Drifter made the waves when it was announced way back in 2013. It received well over $600k in financial backing from the public and next week, gamers who supported the crowdfund will be able to see the fruits of their investment. It’ll be out on Steam for both PC and Mac on March 31. The Linux version of the game is still being polished, but the developers hope to release it soon.
Developed by Heart Machine, the upcoming title can be best described as an action role-playing game in similar vein to the top-down Legend of Zelda games.
“It’s been an incredible adventure leading up to launch. I deeply appreciate everyone who has backed us, had faith in us, had patience through this process. You have all been wonderfully supportive and kind,” said the developers in a post on Kickstarter. “We’ve put together an experience we are deeply proud of, pouring ourselves into it entirely, and we hope you love it.”
They noted that the rewards promised to backers will be going out over the course of this year. Digital rewards will be available upon the game’s launch, but physical rewards will take some time to get to fans as they’re only now printing the orders. Anyone who backed the game should receive a BackerKit email asking them to complete a survey to receive a Steam key. If you’ve yet to receive one, you can head on over to this site.
The studio released a brand new trailer of the game to showcase the latest build. You can check it out below.
