It took many a seance and the upheaval of at least one Indian graveyard, but the people at the Guiness World Records – Gamer's Edition have awarded the prize of "Most Utterly Evil Supervillains" to Batman: Arkham City. I'm not sure how exactly they've measured that, but my guess is they wanted to give Batman something and couldn't decide on a conventional award.
Announced via ArkhamCityNews on Twitter, the multi-award winning Batman: Arkham City had appearances from the Joker, the Penguin, Two-face, the Mad Hatter, Zsasz, Poison Ivy, Calender Man, Bane, Solomon Grundy and a host of others were at least referenced. That's a lot of bad guys to take out, even if most of them were barely on screen for more than five minutes.
Having that sheer wall of enemies may have made getting this award easy for developer Rocksteady, but making Arkham World (the name's stuck now) will be something of a challenge. How can you top a title that had every major villain from a series featured in some way?
The Superman references within the game perhaps hinted at a little bit of crossover in the future; could villains from other DC properties start turning up? It'd certainly be interesting to see.
