There’s a whole bunch of dogs related to Dogmeat in Fallout 4. When the game was first released, we covered a series of mods that altered the way Dogmeat looked, and even featured ones that allowed you to recruit any NPC as your companion if you didn’t like having the faithful mutt around.
It’s been a few months since, and one modder has been hard at work to create an experience unlike any other: the ability to play as Dogmeat himself. With the Be The Dog mod by Abbalovesyou, players can now play the role of the hound instead of a human character.
No one will treat you any differently than if you were a human, so it’s pretty damn funny to watch everyone you encounter greet you as if a talking dog wasn’t the strangest thing in the wasteland of the Boston Commonwealth. Of course, given the preponderance of synths, supermutants, and intelligent robots, a talking dog might not be all that outlandish after all.
You’ll be limited to what you can wear as Dogmeat, unfortunately. You’ll only be able to equip dog equipment, so you won’t be able to get into any power armor suits or wear Kellogg’s jacket and jeans. You won’t even be able to use a gun, so you’ll have to attack enemies using your bare teeth.
You can even recruit the real Dogmeat to be your companion.
