Siege Changes Coming To Total War: Warhammer

March 14, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

Sieges and AI changes coming to Total War with the release of Total War: Warhammer.

A new development post revealed that some slight changes are coming to how sieges play out within the upcoming Total War: Warhammer video game. These alterations being implemented within Total War: Warhammer will help enhance the gameplay experience, but they will not be too drastic compared to previous Total War installments. Unfortunately, we don’t have any videos showing off the new siege gameplay yet, but the developers did go into detail on what we can expect from the game when it officially launches.

One of the key changes within sieges in Total War: Warhammer is that gamers will now only have the option to fight a siege over one or two walls rather than having the option to fight over any wall within the city. Before, sieges were flooded with capture points and street battles that took redeployment’s a bit of time before they arrived at their desired location. Now when a siege occurs, players will have a bigger area to transfer their troops and maneuver units with ease.

It’s also noted that gamers can create siege towers and battering rams over several turns. However, sieges, in general, will be far smoother than before thanks to the new cities. Developers, Creative Assembly, have taken a great amount of time when laying out the different city blueprints including new broader streets and town squares within the Warhammer Fantasy Battles world.

Another noteworthy aspect pointed out by the developers is that the AI has been touched up with various AI now being able to execute multi-pronged attack strategies. They will also adapt to your strategy rather than going into a battle mindlessly. Total War: Warhammer is currently aimed to release on May 24, 2016, for Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux.
