Killzone seemed to only really take off in the UK once its sequel had come out. Despite releasing a full two and a half years into the PlayStation 3's lifespan, it was the first time I'd seen people actually stop and stare at the video screens in our local game stores. The graphical power of Killzone 2 made it a must have game and proved once and for all that the PS3 was capable of far more than detractors had thought.
So it's good news that Sony are bringing the original game to the PlayStation Store, allowing the unadventurous amongst us to replay the original now that we're more acquainted with the series. The original boasted similar things to its successor: fantastic graphics, a large scale political story and mixed reviews after months of hype. The FPS sequel – Liberation was third person – didn't stray too far, I don't think.
Killzone will be available for download on January 24th and will cost $9.99. EU still hasn't seen any of the PS2 classics, so presume this is being added to their backlog and we'll see it at some point in the future.
