With the PS VR2‘s release scheduled for February 22nd, 2023 the PlayStation team recently released a blog detailing everything players can expect from the new VR experience. The extensive FAQ page published on the PlayStation Blog describes everything about the system from its compatibility with PlayStation 4 titles to headset feedback and eye tracking. The blog outlines that there are set to be 30 games available to play within the PS VR2’s launch window. These include brand-new titles and upgraded versions of preexisting PS VR games. Most notably, however, the page dictates that players can expect even more games in the future as there are currently 100 titles in development for the PS VR2.
Disappointingly though, the blog also notes that original PS VR titles won’t be compatible with the new system.
PS VR2 is designed to deliver a truly next-generation VR experience, with advanced features such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, inside-out tracking, eye tracking and more. Due to this new approach to playing games in PS VR2, PS VR games are not compatible with PS VR2.

Alongside this, the PlayStation blog says that “some games may be available for cross-buy or upgrades on a title-by-title basis.” Continuing, “the offering and any associated costs are based on the developer’s preference.” This will probably come as a disappointing revelation for some consumers and if you were on the fence about picking up the accessory which is priced at $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99 / ¥74,980 it might be worth holding off until more titles are made available.
Alongside these features, it was also noted by the blog that the PS VR2 Sense controllers wouldn’t be sold separately at this time. However, the Sense controllers can be used without the headset for navigating the PlayStation 5 interface and Media application. However, they cannot be used in non-PS VR2 supported games.
The PS VR2 Sense controller will work with the PS5 console without the use of a PS VR2 headset. PS VR2 Sense controller can be used in the PS5 user interface and Media application. You cannot use the PS VR2 Sense controller for non-PS VR2 supported games.

The PS VR2 still has a number of big titles making their way to the system during its launch window including Resident Evil Village VR, Pavlov, Gran Turismo 7 VR, and more. The system is set to launch on February 22nd, 2023, and will retail for $549.99 / €599.99 / £529.99 / ¥74,980.
