Holy smokes. Micah Whipple, better known as Bashiok—the Community Manager for Blizzard's Diablo III—has disclosed through Twitter that Diablo III is coming to consoles. The project, according to Bashiok, is being headed up by Blizzard's Josh Mosquiera, who was previously the design director of Company of Heroes at Relic Entertainment.
@TaNGoIX Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project.

According to Blizzard, the Diablo III team is currently working on getting the game ready for launch on the PC and Mac in the meantime—so chances are we won't hear much about console version of the game for a long while. Given the versatility of the Diablo III beta and its streamlined (but not dumbed down) controls that frees players from being dependent on potions, the game could work quite nicely on a console interface.
