Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is about to get another monstrous content update. The action looks set to take players into frosty territory as new challenges and monsters head into the game. Capcom has given players a brief new look at what hunters can expect in Free Title Update 4, which will go live next Tuesday, February 7.
Players will have the chance to encounter a brand new deadly foe on the Frost Islands as part of the upcoming update. Velkhana, the elusive ice-powered Elder Dragon that first featured in the Monster Hunter universe as the legendary main beast of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, will be making its grand and terrifying entry into Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. You can check out the latest trailer for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, which details the new content coming into the game next week in a bit more detail.
Velkhana will have the power of ice and frost at its command and can freeze the ambient water in mid-air. Players will need to stay on their toes when this happens, as Velkhana is capable of forming massive pillars of ice when engaged in combat, and can even freeze the most hot-headed hunters solid. The upcoming update will also herald the arrival of an Elder Dragon known as Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax. This monster’s powers are still a bit of a mystery, but it’s definitely looking like a formidable foe, with players only able to take it on at MR 160. Players will be able to do battle with Velkhana from MR 10.
In addition to the free base game content, players will also find a variety of paid DLC added into the game as part of Free Title Update 4. This will include layered armour for rookie hunter Lance Gunn as well as for Ran Page. Players will also be able to purchase the “Minoto” layered armour set alongside new gestures, poses, stickers, music, and hunter voices as additional DLC. Perhaps most exciting though will be the free Palamute layered armour that makes their animal companions take on the appearance of the Elder Dragon Velkhana. Players can sign up for early access to this right now via the official Monster Hunter website.
Capcom certainly has plenty planned for the game, as it’s also been revealed that Free Title Update 5 will be making its way into the action in April.
Free Title Update 4 for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak launches on February 7. The game is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
