I'm a pretty fervent supporter of DLC and wish more people would change their old-fashioned attitude to digital content, but this one does nothing but prove the detractors point. On March 2nd the Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition will be released containing both the original game and all of the DLC. This is an official announcement after rumours of the game's existence late last year.
But unlike, for instance, Borderlands or Fallout, where the downloadable content adds a significant bit onto the game, Mortal Kombat Komplete adds three classic (klassic?) fatalities, four characters and fifteen skins. The four characters – Freddie Krueger, Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain – may never have made it into the original game if not for their inclusion as DLC, but to release this Komplete package less than twelve months after the original game and add hardly any content (nothing that isn't already available) is not exactly a fair move.
Perhaps they'll announce some other benefits to picking up the new version before March; otherwise it wouldn't surprise me to just see people heading to the pre-owned section.
