Fallout Legal Drama Finally Comes To An End

January 6, 2012 by Elizabeth DeLoria

Fallout fans, break out a bottle of purified water and rejoice, it looks like Bethesda and Interplay have come to an agreement. Finally.

Fallout fans, break out a bottle of purified water and rejoice, it looks like Bethesda and Interplay have come to an agreement. Finally.

The long and somewhat tiring spate of lawsuits started back in 2009 over what they claim was an infringement of copyright and breach of contract regarding a Fallout MMO that Interplay had been developing. Bethesda was denied an injunction in 2009 and again in 2011, allowing Interplay to keep working on the MMO that has me so excited I could almost vomit bottle caps.

Interplay responded, saying that Bethesda is deliberately trying to drag this whole thing out long enough for Interplay to go broke – which is, unfortunately, entirely possible given their current financial situation.

Maybe they should just settle this over a nice big bowl of ice cream and give me my damn Fallout MMO already. Or, even better: a Fallout game on Skyrim’s Creation engine.
