Update 3.002 is now here for God of War Ragnarok. New Game Plus is not included.
Santa Monica Studio’s hit title from 2022, God of War Ragnarok has recently received patch notes for update 3.002. Santa Monica Studio’s extremely short patch notes say that this update “provides a partial fix to an issue where encounters may incorrectly respawn.” Unfortunately, those are the only notes from the patch so there isn’t much more known outside of this.
As noted by ProsperoPatches the latest update requires and operates on 6.02 firmware on PlayStation 5. In the essence of continuity, Santa Monica Studios have also labeled the patch notes as v 03.02 in its database.
There are mixed reports on Reddit regarding the patch’s efficacy. One user noted that the patch fixes a number of minor bugs including one related to the player continuing the main story another user says that the update causes the game to crash just after a minute. Unfortunately due to the brevity of the patch notes it’s still yet unclear if these changes are due to the latest patch.
Prior updates, such as 3.01, also addressed small bugs and glitches. In contrast, update 3.00 was a significant update that added a Photo Mode and fixed multiple issues with characters getting stuck in the game. Santa Monica Studio has announced that a New Game Plus mode is set to be released in Spring 2023, but details on what will be included in this mode have yet to be announced so we’ll have to wait and see if this mode transfers upgrades, weapons, and armor over to subsequent playthroughs. New Game Plus is certainly the update players are most anticipating as despite the continued conversation surrounding the numerous minor bugs and fixes in the current update comments on Reddit are littered with users waiting patiently for the drop of the addon.
If you somehow haven’t played God of War Ragnarok yet the game is a sequel to the 2018 game God of War and is the eighth installment in the God of War series. Following Kratos, the game itself features high-level combat and puzzles. With its incredible narrative and open-world structure it was nominated for several game awards at the Game Awards 2022 only losing out to Elden Ring for the Game of the Year award at the show. It’s currently available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
