Sony has announced that the next major Firmware update will be hitting the Playstation 3, June 10, 2010 in Japan. The most talked about feature of the update has been the ability to support stereoscopic 3D gaming.
A select list of downloadable PSN games will also be updated to support stereoscopic 3D. The list includes Wipeout HD, Star Strike HD and Mr. Pain which will be updated on June 10 to support 3D Mode. If you already own Wipeout HD and Star Strike HD, the update will be at no extra cost, but to unlock the 3D mode in Mr. Pain you would have to dish out an extra ¥300($2.99).
If you’re looking to play some 3D Blu-rays on your ps3, Sony has plans to add 3DBD support by the end of the year.
