Kirby’s Return To Dream Land Deluxe To Feature New Abilities!

January 11, 2023 by Todd Black

Do you under-sand?

Kirby is one of the icons of the Nintendo roster and has been since the first game that Masahiro Sakurai himself made. The pink puffball has charmed fans over the years, and many of his recent titles have gotten massive sales. Last year alone was a huge year for the franchise, and the momentum will continue this year with Kirby’s Return To Dream Land Deluxe coming to Nintendo Switch on February 24th. So in about six weeks, you can go on a classic adventure with new looks and upgrades because many things make this a “deluxe” version.

For those that didn’t play the original game on the Nintendo Wii, Kirby and his allies are asked to find pieces of a lost ship that crash-landed on Dream Land. But as you might expect, those pieces aren’t in the safest areas, so you’ll need to travel across Dream Land and fight enemies to get them back. Thankfully, Kirby is a powerhouse that can do almost anything. That includes beating up enemies with the power of sand:

As one commenter would note, Kirby has gotten more OP. Seriously, if you don’t know how strong Kirby is, he’s “too strong.” But getting the ability to control sand isn’t the only feat that can be added to his repertoire in the title. The game’s official description on the Nintendo website notes that the “Mecha Copy” ability will debut, allowing Kirby to fire a laser at enemies. Plus, the tweet above had a follow-up that revealed the “Festival Copy” ability would also be in the title. You might recall that one from another hit game in the series, Kirby Star Allies.

Speaking of allies, Kirby’s Return To Dream Land Deluxe will allow you to play with three of your friends and take control of Kirby’s pals/frenemies Bandana Dee, King Dedede, and Meta Knight.

There might be more surprises on the way for the game so stay tuned for that. No matter what, there are some big expectations for the title sales-wise. Kirby and the Forgotten Land not only changed the style of play for the franchise, but it had the best sales the series has ever seen.

Given that, you can understand why Nintendo wants this Wii port to sell just as well, or at least close to that. If they can keep the quality up and make it as fun as before? They have a chance.
