2K Games and Firaxis have announced that XCOM 2’s first expansion, titled Anarchy’s Children, will be released on Thursday, March 17th. The release date has nothing to do with the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations taking place on the same day, however.
Anarchy’s Children will add more than 100 exotic new soldier customisation options, with players have increased flexibility with regard to armour, decals, helmets, masks, hairstyles, face paint, and more. The image above will give you some idea of what to expect.
The Anarchy’s Children expansion is included as part of XCOM 2’s $20 Reinforcement Pack and can also be purchased separately for $4. Two additional add-ons, named Alien Hunters and Shen’s Last Gift, are set for release during the summer.
A new patch is also in development for XCOM 2, Firaxis has confirmed. Details about what to expect will be announced “very soon” but the patch will presumably launch alongside the DLC and is said to bring a number of gameplay fixes and “performance optimizations”.
XCOM 2 was released last month for PC and while console versions have never been definitively ruled out, no plans have been announced to date to bring the game to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The last XCOM was released on PC and home consoles.
Since launch, modders have been hard at work tweaking the game to their liking and you can find ten of the best mods available so far on this list. A mod that stands out, in particular, is one that adds artist Bob Ross’s voice to your soldiers.
