GameStop has issued a statement apologizing for starting that nasty rumor about the Last Guardian cancellation.
It turns out that it was all just an innocent mistake and a bad case of Chinese whispers, according to the retailer. Customers were left confused and a little heart broken after receiving automated calls from the retailer informing them that the game’s production had been cancelled.
“The Last Guardian has not been cancelled by Sony as we incorrectly stated in an automated call to reservation customers.” GameStop said in a statement to Kotaku. “Because the game did not have a specific release date, GameStop made the decision to remove the game from our system. The Last Guardian will be reinstated for pre-order when a firm launch date is known.”
This comes after Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida denied the the rumor on Twitter, leaving everyone even more confused.
In related news, I hear GameStop does car commercials – in Japan. Once, GameStop met Hideo Kojima on a plane, and he told them they were pretty.
