God Of War Ragnarok Reclaims Top Spot In UK Sales Charts

It’s beginning to look a lot like a Norse Christmas. At least, in the UK right now. Not only is it genuinely snow-covered in most parts of the island, but the Nordic vibes are also spanning the UK’s gaming community. It looks as though God of War Ragnarok may be one of the hottest gifts of the chill season. That’s if today’s newly-released UK retail sales figures are anything to go by,

God of War Ragnarok seems to have been flying off the shelves in the UK recently. New figures show a 32% week-on-week increase in sales of the Nordic action-adventure title. As a result, the game has climbed back up to the top of the retail sales chart, bumping FIFA 23 off the top spot. This is no small feat when you consider the popularity of football in the UK and across the wider world right now thanks to the 2022 FIFA World Cup that’s currently going on. While one of the nation’s main sports continues to dominate headlines, it might be more likely that sales of the PS5 itself have a lot to do with the sudden uptick of God of War Ragnarok sales. As stores are stocking up and selling more units of the console ahead of Christmas coming in a couple of weeks, it stands to reason that one of the year’s best games will pick up sales right alongside it.

Either way, if these new sales figures are anything to go by, it looks as though there’ll be plenty of God of War Ragnarok to go around in living rooms across the UK this festive season. FIFA 23 now sits in second place on the chart, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 taking the third place position. Interestingly, Animal Crossing: New Horizons takes ninth place in the current top ten, which has been collated for the week ending December 10, 2022. The current boom for Pokemon continues in the UK as well, with the recently-released Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet both occupying different chart positions in the top ten.

With a couple of weeks left of the Christmas rush, there’s still time for things to shift around in terms of the top-selling games. Regardless, at this point, there’s no denying that God of War Ragnarok continues to be an absolutely massive hit for PlayStation and Sony Santa Monica Studio.
