Microsoft has released a remastered version of Gears of War on the PC. The so-called Ultimate Edition, which was first released on the Xbox One, has made its way to the PC with all of the improvements that came with the remaster and then some. The game now supports up to 4K visuals.
It’s priced at $29.99 in North America and can be purchased directly from the Microsoft Store. It costs 22.79GBP in the UK.
According to the release announcement, the game is “stunningly remastered and modernized for Windows 10” with new ultra HD graphics for 4K resolutions.
“The planet lies in ruin. An inmate named Marcus Fenix–once left to die–is humanity’s only hope versus the relentless Locust.”
The new version also supports an unlocked refresh rate, so players with high-end gaming monitors should be able to enjoy it without having their framerates capped to 30 or 60. In addition, there are five new campaign missions and remastered 7.1 audio for full surround sound on headsets and speaker setups capable of supporting it.
