February 29, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

Nvidia has showcased what The Division looks like on the PC through its GameWorks tech.

Tom Clancy’s The Division
is out in just a few weeks across the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Ahead of its release, Nvidia has published a new video showcasing the game’s use of its GameWorks graphics technologies, which raise the detail and realism of its visuals.

The Division’s Technical Director, Anders Holmquist, narrates the video while showcasing the tech featured in the PC version of the game including HBAO (Horizon-Based Ambient Occlusion) and PCSS (Percentage Closer Soft Shadows).

The trailer serves as a proof that the PC version looks a lot better than its console counterparts, and isn’t being held back by the limitations of inferior console hardware. While the game looks undeniably better on the PC, we’ll still have to wait for the full version of the game to come out to make an accurate comparison between the console and PC versions.

The new trailer follows a 60fps trailer Ubisoft released last week, showcasing the game’s visuals at its maximum framerate. It looks pretty damn sweet.

Because the game stands to offer a ton of customization and configuration options for PC gamers, some players may have to choose between superior visuals and higher framerates.

Recently, the game’s publisher Ubisoft pushed back on claims that the title would have microtransactions in addition to its 3 planned DLCs.

The game’s open beta became the most popular for a new IP on current-generation consoles with 6.4 million players across the three platforms. If you plan to play the game on PC, a free digital copy is included with sales of select GeForce graphics cards and Logitech keyboards.

The Division will be out on March 8, 2016.
