What’s The Gameplay Like In Atomic Heart

December 2, 2022 by Dennis Patrick

Here is what we know so far about Atomic Heart’s gameplay.

2023 is looking to be quite the filled year of incredible video game releases. One of those releases slated to launch in early 2023 is Atomic Heart. This comes from developers Mundfish, who has been teasing this release for a good while now. Now, if you’re not familiar with Mundfish, then that wouldn’t come to much of a surprise. This will be the developer’s first release, as the studio only started back in 2017 with a small team of four developers. Their initial goal was to deliver a video game that could rank alongside their personal favorites like Doom, Fallout, and Bioshock.

You can certainly see the inspiration from these games with their upcoming Atomic Heart release. Since 2017, the development team has continued to expand as they pressed forward in delivering the game into the marketplace. We’re still a little ways off before the game’s upcoming launch, but that hasn’t stopped the development team from providing information about what exactly players can expect.

What’s The Gameplay Like In Atomic Heart

We know that the game premise is about a KGB agent having to go explore a plant that mysteriously went silent. Likewise, we know that once you arrive at this facility, you’ll find that the robots have gone haywire and started to take over control, slaughtering humans and causing mayhem. But if you’re uncertain what the gameplay will be like, then you’re in luck. The developers have already showcased some gameplay footage and explained what we could expect from this title. Overall this is an FPS where you’ll have a series of weapons to craft all by gathering various resources scattered across the map.

There will apparently be three difficulty settings to select from as well. Now, these settings won’t change the story up, but you’ll find a option that’s based more on the narrative, along with two more difficult options to give players a challenge. But don’t go into this game expecting to pull off a stealth approach. Developers have expressed that players can be cautious and take out enemies strategically to avoid any additional unwanted attention. For instance, there are alarms that can be triggered, which would cause a swarm of enemies to investigate the area. However, it doesn’t look like you’ll be able to stick into the shadows to avoid complete detection as you progress through the campaign.

Speaking of progressing through the game, we know this is a linear experience. Developers didn’t want players to get sidetracked and forget about the story if they went for an open-world experience. Despite not being a completely open-world game, there will still be some areas players can explore in order to unlock secrets and valuables. You can check out some of the gameplay footage available for Atomic Heart for yourself in the video embedded below. Meanwhile, Atomic Heart will be launching into the marketplace on February 21, 2023, for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
