Remedy “Hurt” by Absence of Alan Wake on PC

December 15, 2011 by Josh Harmon

The Finnish developer wasn’t happy to abandon its PC fanbase by making Alan Wake an Xbox 360 exclusive at launch.

Speaking to G4 about the recent announcement that Alan Wake will be coming to the the PC early next year, Remedy's Oskari Hakkinen explained that the company was "hurt" by Microsoft's decision to make the psychological thriller a 360 exclusive.

Alan Wake spent more than four years in development as a multiplatform title before the Windows version was cancelled. That was a painful call for Remedy, a company that has deep roots as a PC-friendly developer.

“PC gamers are very close to Remedy’s hearts from Max Payne days, even from right back to Death Rally," Hakkinen explained. "Death Rally first came out on PC, that was one of our first games. Max, Max 2, huge PC following.

“Sure, we would have definitely liked to have brought Alan Wake out on day one for PC, but the stars weren’t aligned, unfortunately, for that," he continued. "And it definitely did hurt a little bit.”

There, there, Oskari. Let it all out. Now that Alan Wake is officially on its way to Steam, the healing can finally begin.
