Alan Wake Coming to PC?

December 12, 2011 by Mat Growcott

Alan Wake was cancelled for PC despite garnering positive reaction. Now, a glimmer of hope that it may still get released.

Alan Wake became a 360 exclusive during early development and, despite it being an enjoyable game, didn't have a fantastic release; it was originally planned as a multiplatform game (across PS3, 360 and PC), an exclusivity deal with Microsoft meant that two platforms were dropped. At a conference earlier this year, the developers admitted that cancelling the PC version had not been their idea, leading to speculation that perhaps Microsoft had used Alan Wake to boost their lack of exclusives.

Very rarely in this industry do we see such a loaded quote as the one below, given by Remedy's Aki Järvilehto to Finnish site YLE.fi. There's absolutely no ambiguity at all, Alan Wake on PC is something that Remedy want to do and, indeed, may already be doing.

"We have received feedback from a lot of PC gamers, and I have to admit that yes, we somehow ignored that.  Let’s see if in the near future we could have some positive news to tell you about dating!"

That's either a cruel joke or a semi-confirmation.
