Shenmue Looks Awesome in HD

December 5, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Here’s what Shenmue would look like if it ran on the PC.

A couple of weeks ago, we showed you what it would be like to play Skyward Sword on the PC. With a higher resolution and crisper textures, the game looks a lot better than it does on the Wii.

This time around, we have a couple of videos to reveal how Shenmue would look on the PC. The game has yet to be re-released as an HD title on either the PSN or the XBLA, so here's some incentive for Sega to take note.

Shenmue is being run in an emulator called NullDC, which happens to be in widescreen. The Dreamcast, on which the game was originally released, was never intended to play games outside of a 4:3 aspect ratio, so there are a number of visible glitches, noticeable during the loading screens.
