Destroy All Humans! Clone Carnage Now Free For All

November 2, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

PlayStation players will have to buy it for one cent though.

Some good news for fans of the Destroy All Humans universe today. THQ Nordic has announced that the alien invasion adventure is branching out with its multiplayer mode Clone Carnage. The multiplayer mode for Destroy All Humans will now be free for players on Xbox consoles and PC, with PlayStation players needing to spend a nominal amount to get their hands on a copy.

Having previously launched in May, the standalone spin-off was originally available for players to buy for $12.99 / €12.99 / £9.99 as an add-on for the main game. It also came as a free bolt-on for those who’d pre-ordered Destroy All Humans 2! Reprobed, which was released at the end of August. Fast forward a few months though and it seems that THQ Nordic has finally decided to open up the multiplayer alien invasion fun to much broader audiences by making the game free to play.

Listen up, puny humans!
Your benevolent Furon Overlords are granting you a free multiplayer experience from today on: Clone Carnage, the stand-alone multiplayer mode for Destroy All Humans! is now free-to-play!* https://t.co/4q9SkidatM

If you’re playing the game on Xbox or PC, it’ll be free to download as of today as a standalone DLC. Those on PlayStation aren’t getting the multiplayer action entirely free though. For some reason, PlayStation gamers will need to spend the tiny sum of $0.01 /£0.20/ €0.25 in order to bag themselves some Clone Carnage. The standalone mode dropped a release trailer back in May, which you can check out right here if you wanted to get a feel for the latest free multiplayer game.

Clone Carnage lets players wreak havoc as both the aliens and humans in a number of different game modes. The game makes use of split-screen features for local co-op action, making this an ideal bit of action to jump into with your favourite couch co-op partner. The split-screen action only extends to local two-player action, but in online multiplayer, the game opens up to a team of up to four players. There are four game modes in Clone Carnage that can be played across six different maps. These include Rampage, Armageddon, Race, and Abduction modes. In addition, the standalone DLC features a number of iconic skins for the playable characters, with all of the skins from the Destroy All Humans release in 2020 fully unlocked.

With a bit of luck, the game’s multiplayer mode going free-to-play will attract new audiences to Destroy All Humans. Clone Carnage met with some lacklustre feedback on its original release back in May. However, a large part of this was apparently down to the mode’s insufficient player base, potentially as players weren’t keen to pay an additional fee for a multiplayer version of the game. We’ll have to wait and see how Clone Carnage is received now that players can access it for free, or practically free, if you’re on a PlayStation console.

Destroy All Humans! Clone Carnage is available to download now for free on Xbox and PC, with a small fee for PlayStation players.
