Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Gets “de_nuke” Remake

February 18, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

The iconic Counter-Strike map de_nuke comes to CS: GO.

de_nuke 1
de_nuke is one of the oldest classic Counter-Strike maps. Today, Valve has released an all new version of the map for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The redesigned map has been released as a part of the ongoing Operation Wildfire content release, featuring all new visual aesthetics.

The map has been added to the Competitive Matchmaking playlist rotation as part of the Operation Wildfire map group. The content release also features free access to seven community-built maps. Players can purchase a pass for the event and earn a journal that tracks achievements and progress and rewards players with an upgradeable coin that’s displayed along with your avatar.

“Nuke is one of Counter-Strike‘s most iconic and enduring maps,” said Valve. “First released in November 1999, the map has undergone numerous aesthetic and functional changes over the years, yet always retained its elegant simplicity. We’re excited to announce the latest evolution of Nuke in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.”

Hell, I remember spending countless hours on both CT and Terrorist teams trying to defuse or plant the bomb and worrying about how bad my latency was at the time.

According to Valve, the map has been given something of an overhaul with the intention to create more tactical options for the Terrorist team. The studio says that the map originally favored the CTs.

Valve explains: “We set out to adjust rotation times between the stacked bombsites, Counter-Terrorist strategic control of the rafters, and added a new outdoor attack route.”

Fresh screenshots of the map can be seen below.
