Xbox Prestige: A Designer’s Concept

November 29, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Joseph Dumari has come up with a concept for a device he calls the Xbox Prestige, an evolution of the existing Xbox 360.

Designer Joseph Dumari has conceptualized a design for the successor to the Xbox 360, which he calls the Xbox Prestige.

Designed as a 100% digital device with no optical drive, the Xbox Prestige uses the foundations of the 360 Kinect from its completely controller-less form. The device would be integrated with two cameras, and voice recognition.

A wireless controller would serve as a gamepad for games, but wouldn't be required to navigate the dashboard interface. Dumary proposes that a new "KinectIN" feature that would allow the user to simply purchase a card containing a chip that can be scanned into the console to activate and download the game, which would fit on the the Xbox's 2TB hard drive, or played directly from the cloud.

He suggests that the console carry an 8-core processor, with support for 3D, 4K2K, multiTV, live TV, webcam, and a GPS.

It's a pipedream, but it's certainly one we wouldn't mind seeing.
