The ‘Dragon Shout’ app Gives Skyrim Players an Interactive map

November 29, 2011 by Lyle Smith

Now you won’t miss out on a thing.

Skyrim’s has an unbelievable amount of content, but unless you are an insane completionist, you will undoubtedly miss out on a lot of content; even if it’s not intentional. Perhaps you meant to go back to a dungeon, city, or encampment, but you completely forgot where it was or what you were supposed to do once you got there. Whatever the reason might be, since Skyrim doesn’t give the player the ability to make notes or annotations on the world map, this likely will happen more often than not.

This is where Dragon Shout, an unofficial companion app for the iOS, will come in to play.

Dragon Shout is essentially a fully interactive hand-drawn Skyrim world-map that enables players to add markers and notes for pretty much anything. In future updates, developers said that it will become a social hub for Skyrim players, giving them the ability to add in marker sharing, party or app-wide chats, pictures, and much more.

The following was submitted to Apple pertaining to its first release:

“The first version of the app contains an interactive map where you can drop annotated markers / journal entries down. For example, yesterday I played Skyrim and left a bunch of dragon scales and bones on the side of a mountain because they were too heavy.

I will come back and get them some other time so I marked it on the map so I know where it's at in the future. Another example is I'm always looking for the right ingredients for potions, so when I come across an important ingredient, I mark it on the map so I know where to get it next time.”

Dragon Shout will be available for free on the iPhone and iPad within the next few of days and you can visit the app official website to follow its progress. Let's hope Android users won't be left out of the mix.

This is perfect for me, personally. I always leave items lying around all over the world because of my lack of stamina and I also intend on returning to many places for one reason or another; however, with my horrible memory, it’s usually forgotten within the hour.

Problem solved!
