Does Skull and Bones Have Multiplayer Crossplay Support?

October 14, 2022 by Dennis Patrick

Here’s what we know so far.

Skull and Bones is a game we’ve been waiting for. It’s been a long time coming, and while the development processes seemingly had its own choppy waters to navigate, the game’s release is nearing. If you’re unfamiliar with Skull and Bones, the game started development all the way back in 2013. However, Ubisoft didn’t officially unveil this game to the masses until the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017. Fans that tuned into E3 that year for the Ubisoft press media conference were treated to the reveal of a brand new pirates-themed game.

This initial reveal offered insight into more ship combat as players would sail to the open seas fighting off other pirates and the law. However, since that grand unveiling, Skull and Bones have endured several years of silence. Despite Ubisoft not officially confirming the game production had been canceled, things were not looking very bright for Skull and Bones. Although, we finally got a bit of light at the end of the tunnel in 2020. In 2020 Ubisoft confirmed that the development was pressing on.

Then in 2022, we received a new showcasing. Once again, players were shown traversing the open waters and battling other pirates in search of treasure. We were also given a new release date to mark on our calendars. If you want a more pirate-themed game to dive into, then Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones might be a viable option to run with soon.

Does Skull and Bones Have Multiplayer Crossplay Support?

Skull and Bones have quite the hype built behind it. After years of waiting, we’re finally nearing its release date, and fortunately, this game will be available to play with others. There is a strong focus on multiplayer within the game as a take on the pirate’s life. Overall, players are taking the role of a pirate captain looking to raise up the infamy ranks. This means gathering a crew, building up your fleet of vessels, finding loot, and surviving some harsh battles.

However, you’re not only battling against the law and other NPC ships that roam through the waters but players as well. This is a PvEvP type of game. You’ll be able to battle against other pirate players within the game or perhaps even befriend them. After all, we’re sure there will be plenty of pirate alliances built up to pick off the smaller threats. Of course, with that said, there is no honor among thieves, and alliances could come crashing down when there’s a big score to grab up.

If you want a competitive gameplay experience, then Skull and Bones might be a game worth picking up. You likely won’t have to look very far before you start seeing plenty of intense ship-to-ship battles. Fortunately, if you have some friends playing on a different platform, then that’s perfectly fine. Skull and Bones will have crossplay support across the different platforms. Speaking of platforms, when Skull and Bones does launch into the marketplace on March 9, 2023, you can pick the game up for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
