Bandai Namco has shared a lot of single player content coming with Pokken Tournament. There is one thing they don’t plan to add in, however, and that is DLC.

Pokken will ship with  these modes and features, some of which should be familiar to fans of Tekken:

Practice Mode – A test your skills mode
Free Training – Practice your moves without pressure. Also a good place for competitive players to study moves and strategies.
Combo Dojo – This mode is specifically designed to teach you combos.
My Town – This is where you can customize how your character looks using in-game currency, PokéGold.

There is also a robust single player mode called Ferrum League. Ferrum is the region that hosts the tournament, and the name Ferrum itself is an open reference to Tekken. Ferrum is the scientific name for iron, and Tekken stands for the King of the Iron Fist.

In Ferrum League, you challenge other Trainers and their fighting Pokémon across several rankings, starting from Green League, Blue League, Red League and Chrome League. Along the way, you can meet and face famous Pokemon trainers from the other games, including Travis, Keith and Erin.

Bandai is clear about DLC. They have no plans to make any stages or future characters as DLC. Bandai’s statement does imply that even though amiibo can be used to unlock items to use in the game, those items will be unlockable via regular play as well.

Pokken Tournament will be releasing on March 18 exclusively on the Wii U. You can read more about the real life Pokken Championship Series eSports events.
