Does Forspoken Have Multiplayer?

October 7, 2022 by Dennis Patrick

Is Forspoken only a solo experience?

Square Enix made an exciting move in 2018. The company decided to craft up a new internal development studio by adding staff from other development teams under Square Enix. This resulted in the creation of Luminous Productions. Initially, the new division was meant to create not only video games but other forms of entertainment media. However, it wasn’t long into the life cycle of Luminous Productions that video game development became the sole focus for the team. With the use of Luminous Engine, developers began work on Project Athia.

Eventually, gamers around the world would finally get the unveiling of this new game which is now dubbed Forspoken. With this new IP, players are getting a new thrilling fantasy experience that features a female protagonist by the name of Frey Holland. Frey is a young woman who is living in New York City. However, at the start of our journey, Frey suddenly becomes transported into a unique fantasy world. Using an assortment of magical powers and abilities, Frey will have to fight for survival in this strange world.

Initially, Luminous Productions had planned for Square Enix to ship Forspoken out into the marketplace within October of 2022. However, that didn’t happen, as the studio was forced into delaying the release until 2023. Likewise, there is an exclusive deal in place for this Forspoken title, so you’ll want to ensure you have a platform on which this game will be available on launch. Otherwise, you might be waiting a couple of years for the game to end its exclusivity deal.

Does Forspoken Have Multiplayer?

Forspoken is one of the more prominent video game releases players can expect in early 2023. However, if you were wondering if Frey Holland will have some extra help with a secondary player joining in, you’re out of luck. This is an upcoming video game release that only features a single-player component. That means you alone will be exploring the hostile lands of Athia as you seek Frey Holland’s safe return to New York City.

With that said, this might be a thrilling new epic RPG game for players looking for something to dive into. It’s a brand-new IP, so you won’t have to go back and play any previous video game installments. Likewise, we know that Luminous Productions’ development team made this game an open-world experience. In the gameplay trailer showcasing Forspoken, the developers have expressed the need for players to explore Athia freely. While it might be a dangerous world, there will be plenty of rewards for players to uncover as they venture into the unknown.

In fact, the gameplay trailer offers ten minutes of footage to give players a more in-depth look at what they can expect when Forspoken does launch into the marketplace. It’s looking to be quite the action RPG, as Frey can swiftly move around the terrain and unleash a series of powerful magical attacks on her enemies. For now, players can pick up Forspoken when it launches on January 24, 2023, for the PC and PlayStation 5 platforms.
