Minecraft on PC has the added benefit of allowing players to enjoy mods and custom adventure map creations. Instead of picking away for resources and exploring randomly generated worlds, go through a small campaign developed by fans for fans. There are all sorts of different adventure maps available online to download but today we’re going to talk about some of the better Halloween-themed Minecraft adventure maps you’ll want to try out to get into that spooky horror-filled mood.

If you’re looking for a new adventure map to enjoy on Minecraft and just happen to love the Halloween holiday then we have a treat for you. As mentioned, there are plenty of Halloween-themed maps to enjoy during, before, or after October 31st. We picked out five maps well worth playing and, for the most part, terrifying. Spooky Island Adventure Map

Created by IAmN0tLiable comes Spooky Island Adventure Map, a Halloween-themed Minecraft map that’s all about the story and less about battles or parkour. Players find themselves within the realm of Spooky Island, a land that contains only four residents, Ghost, Jack O’ Lantern, Witch, and Werewolf. There’s a Halloween bash party coming up and it’s your goal to get invited but you’ll have to prove your worth to get in. According to IAmN0tLiable, this adventure map does not have a limit on how many people can play but it is intended for a mature audience because of the harsh language.

Resource packs are also required to play Spooky Island Adventure Map correctly. Furthermore, don’t expect much of a battle or parkour areas within the map as the creator developed the game with an emphasis on story and dialogue. So if you’re of age and want a quick little story to pass the time then be sure to check it out.

The Asylum

The Asylum is a perfect Minecraft adventure map for gamers who want a more chilling horror story with plenty of jump scares. Created by SunFury, this Minecraft horror map has gained quite a bit of traction when it was released last October and continues to grow in popularity. Starting up on a cold autumn night players find themselves driving in less than desirable weather. During your drive, a lightning bolt strikes down a tree causing you to have a major wreck. Stumbling out of the wreckage, your head is pounding, miles from any help, and the only sign of life may be through a cavern tunnel which leads to the infamous Chartham Asylum.

This spooky adventure map is not for the faint of heart and it’s certainly aimed at providing players with a real horror experience. As such, there are some rules and helpful information before you being the game. This is a single player game that runs off of Minecraft version 1.8 with an added resource pack. Brightness must be set to 30% with smooth lighting activated and a normal render distance. Lastly, mobs will usually be invincible making it pointless to fight leaving players to flee for safety.

Wandering

Wandering was created by GreenLenux, the same creator behind another hit horror adventure map, The Lost Soul: Herobrine’s Challenge. This particular adventure map puts players into the role of a middle-aged man who has returned home from a long day of work. Eager to prepare for bed it becomes clear that he’s not alone with someone or something stalking him. This is a short adventure map with gameplay averaging about twenty minutes to complete where gamers can expect to go through the story filled with mazes, tasks, and jump scares.

Additionally, creator GreenLenux has made a custom horrifying monster as the antagonist for this map.  As for the rules, the recommended version to play this map is Minecraft 1.8.8 with 50% lighting and no activated shadders. This is also a single player map that requires the default resource pack.

The Eight Pages

The Eight Pages, by TheMadness, is a horror map inspired by the video game, Slender: The Eight Pages. Players are tossed into the forest where they must track down eight pages scattered about before the mysterious Slender Man, a tall man with a white face and no facial features, reaches you. Just like the original Slender: The Eight Pages by development team Parsec Productions, The Eight Pages has a creepy atmosphere and plenty of jump scares. Currently, The Eight Pages is on version 1.2 which contains two player support, additional horror scenes, new sound effects, brand new locations, and resources.

The Miner

The Miner 3

The Miner was created by KingDarren7203 as the prequel to his previous horror map, The Mine. Within the game, players take the role of Douglas McComerick during his last day as a night guard for Spencer Vanduce’s underground mine. For three years, Douglas has had little to no trouble running the night shift but when a new miner begins to stay after hours, it becomes your last task to find him and escort him to the exit. Gameplay lasts only about a half hour and it’s a single player only map. As a warning, KingDarren7203 has stated the map does contain flashing lights and images but flashing lights are not a problem for you then enjoy the complex redstone mechanics, creepy horror scenes, and an unforgettable plotline.
