Limbo Sells 1 Million, Headed To Mac

November 10, 2011 by Addison Langford

Limbo has sold over a million copies and is on it’s way to selling even more copies on Mac. Developers are hard at work on their followup title.

Limbo is a digital title created by Playdead that people sure seem to like. I haven’t played it yet, but it sure looks gorgeous. At least a million people dig the game since it’s sold over a million copies around the world at this point. That is over three different platforms. Limbo tells the story of a boy with no name waking up in the middle of a forest. He sets out looking for his sister and encounters all sorts of frightening creatures and challenges along the way.

Limbo will soon be adding it’s fourth platform as well, it was announced today that it will be available on Mac next month. Playdead were recently able to buy themselves back from early investors due to the great success of their game. “With the success that Limbo has achieved, we felt this was the ideal time to fully regain our independence, we are grateful to everyone who supported us over the past few years, and look forward to forging new partnerships that will both let us reach new heights as a studio and give our director, Arnt Jensen, room to grow creatively.” said Dino Patti

Playdead are using profits from Limbo to continue their hard work on their next title. They haven’t revealed a whole lot about it, or it’s name even. “The next project is more crazy than Limbo, if you say that’s crazy. It’s more weird in many ways.” Patti told Eurogamer. He was able to confirm however that the next game will be in color as well as being another downloadable title. We won’t know a lot about it though until closer to launch, it seems Patti hates the long waits between game announcements and releases. “…I want to have an announcement one month before, two weeks before or something. That’s an ordinary person’s attention span.” Patti said in the same interview with Eurogamer.

Whatever it is that those crazy Dutch developers are cooking up, I’m sure it’ll be great. Check out the launch trailer for Limbo below.
