Returning a faulty product can be a major hassle. Many a gamer learned about what it was like to return products over and over again when the Xbox 360 came out, with one unit after the other giving them a red ring of death after only a few days of use.
The pain and the hassle gamers had to go through was something that lead to countless memes mocking Microsoft’s QA and engineering–something that the company has thankfully not repeated with the Xbox One.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 hasn’t been without its own set of faults, and some users have had to return it for newer, better models. But none of them have returned the PS4 as often as a guy named JediRabbit.
JediRabbit is a forum poster on the PlayStation Forum, where he’s notorious for a precise reason: he constantly asks for help (not that there’s anything wrong with that) regarding problems he’s had with an assortment of Sony PlayStation equipment. According to those who’ve interacted with him on the forum, he’s difficult to help, as he seems to ignore any advice people give him.
His biggest problem with the PS4, according to his posts, is the loudness of the fans. Despite being told that the noise levels on his console were at normal levels and comparable to anyone else’s PS4, he went through six separate returns in six months over the issue.
He would later go on to voice his concerns about the PS4’s operating temperature, which he noticed by placing his hand on top of the console. This caused him to return the console. Over a dozen systems later, he now had a new complaint: his PS4 was shutting down without his input.
Now, this is a legitimate issue with first-year PS4s. I have a launch system that shuts itself off after awhile and even powers itself on depending on the ambient temperature. He may have had a real issue here, but compounded with his other complaints, it became difficult for the forum’s users to take his complaints as anything but frivolous, prompting one user to ask him how many systems he’s been through over the past few years.
