The House of the Dead: Remake Launches on Xbox Series X/S This Week

September 19, 2022 by Alexandra Nicholson

Get ready for an optimized classic.

It’s been revealed that The House of the Dead: Remake will be released for Xbox Series X/S consoles later this week. The game, which is a remake of the well-known classic arcade rail-shooter The House Of The Dead from 1997, has been out on other platforms since earlier this year. However, it has yet to make its way onto a current-generation console until now.

Publisher Forever Entertainment and developers MegaPixel Studio have announced that the game will be making its way onto Xbox Series X/S this Friday, September 23. Previously the title had been available on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, however, it hadn’t been ready to meet up with the graphical and performance capabilities of the Series X/S consoles.

Thankfully, fans of the gruesome shooter arcade title on the current-generation Xbox console won’t have too much longer to wait to see those zombie blood and guts in all their heavily-optimized glory. Forever Entertainment has also shared a new Xbox Series X/S launch trailer for the game today, which you can check out here for a look at all the deliciously dark action awaiting you in The House Of The Dead: Remake.

It’s also been revealed that those who had previously purchased The House Of The Dead: Remake on Xbox One will be able to upgrade their version of the game to the Xbox Series X/S version for free.

Alongside the classic main campaign mode, The House Of The Dead: Remake also features a local co-op multiplayer option for two players and an additional wave-based Horde mode. The remake also includes a photo mode and a storyline that remains true to the original gameplay experience. So far, its creature-based shooting and researcher-rescuing antics have proved popular with fans of the original title and newcomers alike.

The game also released a unique “Limidead Edition” kit earlier this year, which contained a number of items for fans of the title, including a special exclusive box with lenticular, two character stands, and stickers alongside a copy of the game itself. Whether or not there’ll be any kind of limited edition kit released for the Xbox Series X/S version of The House Of The Dead: Remake, we’ll just have to wait and see.

There’s been no word yet as to whether or not the game will be launching on PS5 as well as Xbox Series X/S, but it could just be a matter of time until an upgrade for its PS4 version is ready to go. Watch this space. In the meantime, you can order the Xbox Series X/S version of the game now in time for its release on Friday, or if you’re a current owner of the title on Xbox One, wait for your edition to get its free current-gen upgrade.
