ATLUS, in collaboration with HBO and Cyanide Studios, unveiled today the North American publishing plans for Game of Thrones, an action RPG based on the internationally bestselling 'A Song of Ice and Fire' series of books by George R. R. Martin and the critically acclaimed HBO series, Game of Thrones. The game is set to launch in early 2012 and will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and the PC. An original story will be written under the supervision of Martin and promises to deliver the ultimate interactive role-playing experience. Those who watch the series or read the books will be familiar with many of the locations, which will be straight from the pages of the fantasy saga along with the likeness of some actors portrayed in the series.
The Game of Thrones video game will be 30-plus hour action RPG experience with players entering the gritty fantasy world of Westeros. Players will forge alliances and wage war as they play an important role in the ongoing struggle for power of the Seven Kingdoms. Their journey will span numerous quests, during which they will interact with many characters and make key decisions that impact the realm.
"This is a wonderful way for fans to engage with the brand in an exciting and interactive way," commented James Costos, VP of HBO Global Licensing. "ATLUS and Cyanide are leaders in developing world class games with broad accessibility so the partnership was an ideal fit for us."
I'm a huge fan of the show, so I hope this game will do the beloved series and novels justice.
