Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 Free-to-Play Version Comes to Steam

February 4, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

PES 2016’s free-to-play version comes to the PC via Steam.

Konami has revealed today that it is bringing the free-to-play version of its popular football game Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, better known as PES 2016, to the PC. In fact, the game is out right now and available for download and play right away through Steam. All you have to do is download the game by adding it to your Steam account and you can hop right in. Keep in mind that the game is region locked, so you may not be able to see it on Steam if you’re located in Asia.

The free version of the game is designed as an entry-level experience–a kind of trial version for gamers to see if they like what it has to offer. It’s limited to Exhibition mode and seven teams, including AS Roma, Brazil, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and France. Also included is the game’s training mode and the MyClub team-building mode.

Like the PS3 and PS4 versions of the game, which are also free, PES 2016 will get updates with new roster changes throughout the rest of the year.

If you own the game on other platforms, you won’t be able to transfer your data to them. However, you can play the game against full Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 owners, who have the paid version of the title. You will have to buy that game separately if you wish to access the locked modes.

The game’s free-to-play version is only available on PC and Sony platforms. It isn’t available on the Xbox One and Xbox 360, though the publisher may bring the game there eventually.
