Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is Official And Has A Launch Trailer

February 2, 2016 by Carlos Chism

It seems we can expect the familiar charm from older Lego Star Wars games.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which leaked earlier today, has now been made official. Warner Bros. Interactive and Lucasfilm have announced that the game, developed by TT games, will launch this summer on June 28. The trailer is essentially a Lego mishmash of the various Force Awakens trailers. It shows various iconic scenes from the film, but adds in the familiar humor many fans have come to expect from Lego games.

If you’re a fan of the older Lego Star Wars games, it looks like you’ll find much to enjoy in this one. TT Games was the studio responsible for Lego Star Wars: The Video Game, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, and Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. If you’ve enjoyed any of those games, along with any of the studio’s other Lego titles, then it seems you’re in for something similar.

There will be several new features introduced to mix things up, too. These include an enhanced “multi-builds” system, where players can pick from several building options to advance the game. Warner Bros. also says there will be a chance to engage in “intense new Blaster Battles for the first time, utilizing surrounding environments to drive back the First Order.” There will also be arena-based battles, along with space dogfights, where players can use several different vehicles, including, of course, The Millennium Falcon.  Hopefully there’s an option to play the entire game, including any light saber battles, as BB-8.

The game’s story will explore the time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, along with “providing additional insight about the new movie and its characters.” Sony also announced on the PlayStation Blog that the game will have exclusive content on PS4 and PS3, including the Droid Character Pack and the Phantom Limb level Pack. There’s also a deluxe edition.

Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens launches June 28, 2016 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and PC.
