Nintendo’s third quarter results are out. While profits are down, operating profit is on the upside, as games like Splatoon and Super Mario Maker continue to do well.

- Net sales: 425,664 million Yen ($ 3.511 billion), -3.9% year on year
- Operating income: 42,485 million Yen ($ 350 million ), up year on year
- Ordinary income: 55,295 million Yen ($ 456 million), -40.1% year on year
- Digital sales: 30.5 billion Yen
Wii U hardware: 1.87 million, 12.60 million lifetime
3DS hardware: 3.60 million, 57.94 million lifetime
Wii U software: 10.25 million, 79.30 lifetime
3DS software: 19.67 million, 264.53 million lifetime
amiibo figures: 20.50 million
amiibo cards: 21.5 million
Sales for both software and hardware were slightly higher in Japan and the US, but dipped in Europe and other regions. Among 3DS models, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL comprised most of unit sales.
Wii U benefited heavily from Splatoon, now at four million units sold, with Super Mario Maker close behind at 3.34 million units. 3DS software was topped by Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer, at 2.93 million units, while The Legend of Zelda TriForce Heroes pulls in a respectable 1.08 million units.
