Dead World is Techland’s Latest Trademark

November 3, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

Dead Island developer Techland files to trademark Dead World.

Dead Island

Dead Island developers Techland have filed a trademark for Dead World, presumably to place dibs on the sequel to their zombie killer. Judging from the name however, we're not ruling out the possibility that the game may be a massively online multiplayer game.

According to Siliconera which first spotted the filing, Techland registered the Dead World name on October 28 under “computer game software and electronic software programs.” Barring the possibility that Dead World is some cruel computer virus that propagates itself through DRM, we’re going to settle on the ‘game’ portion of that sentence.

It seems more than likely that Dead World, Dead Island 2, or whatever the case may be, is currently under development at the Poland-based studio given the recent success of Dead Island.

Techland has refused to comment on the trademark filing at this time, but we’re not discounting any future announcements.
