Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Has A Release Date On PC

February 1, 2016 by Carlos Chism

The game gets a bigger audience in a move from PS Vita to PC.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc was released for the PlayStation Vita in North America two years ago. If you’re not one of the legions of people who own a Vita, but wanted to check out the zany narrative mystery game, there’s only a short wait. Spike Chunsoft announced today on Twitter that the game is coming to PC on February 18 (via IGN).

As of yet, the game doesn’t have a Steam page, but the developer’s word on Twitter is the next best thing. Spike Chunsoft announced that the game would hit PC last month while posting the required/recommended specifications, but didn’t give a solid release date. They also announced Danganronpa 3 last year at Tokyo Game Show, adding that the game would feature a ““psycho cool” aesthetic. Anyone who preorders Trigger Happy Havoc on PC will also get the soundtrack for free.

For those unfamiliar with the Danganronpa games, they are essentially interactive mystery/detective novels. Think something like the Phoenix Wright games, but with a off-kilter, over-the-top visual and narrative aesthetic. Each title follows a group of school kids trapped in perilous situations where they have to deceive and occasionally even murder each other. Players try to navigate these situations, find clues, and eventually identify the culprit.

They’re games that are self-aware of their silliness, and use that self-awareness to their advantage. The series is so popular that its spawned spin-off manga and anime series.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc will be out on PC on February 18th, while Danganronpa 3 is set to release at some point later this year.
