It’s been exactly a year to the day Nintendo revealed Splatoon at their Koshien event. Today, Splatoon‘s producer shared a teary eyed message to fans amid all the revelry.
This year, Splatoon Koshien hosted the grand finals of a nationwide Japanese Splatoon tournament. The grand champions are team Ikata Tama Kids, all the way from Kanto, Japan.
Splatoon Koshien 2016 was also host to a special Squid Sisters live concert. Hatsune Miku and Gorillaz style, the sisters appeared as holograms, and performed several songs, with a live band accompanying their charming dancing.
The biggest news from the event came at the end, however, as producer Hisashi Nogami expressed his gratitude to fans. His voice broke as he spoke, and it was clear he was holding back tears from being so touched by how much fans loved EAD’s newest game.
Nogami says that it was thanks to the fans, who were at the event and also at home, that Splatoon became the success that it is. He went on to say that the developers were still thinking of ways to thank the fans. Although EAD already announced the end of DLC, they might be able to do something in the future. For now, Nogami asks that fans give them some more time.
