Traditionally the gaming world’s preeminent showcase for new international music, this edition of FIFA features brand-new tracks from superstar artists Nine Inch Nails, Bloc Party, You Me At Six, Miles Kane, Wretch 32, Vampire Weekend and more. It also includes new music from breakthrough artists such as Scotland’s CHVRCHES, England’s Disclosure and The 1975, Latin America’s Los Rakas and Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas, American performers Robert DeLong, The Colourist, and American Authors, and Spain’s Crystal Fighters. Japan’s J-Rap kingpin Chinza Dopeness’ track will be exclusive to FIFA 14 on the new generation of consoles.

That said, FIFA 14 is the most complete virtual footballing experience available today. Whether in single or multiplayer, there’s enough to keep fans busy well into the new football season and beyond.

That’s really the bottom line here, folks. If the game had not been shipped with a broken Practice Arena (and for all I know, it is just my copy) it would be pristine. It’s so close to real that it often becomes frustratingly hard to play, but every sports game fanatic knows that it’s better to be frustrated by realism than by game glitches and broken animations. There is very little to not like about this game. FIFA 14 is a beautiful send-off to the waning current generation of gaming, and a perfect example of what has become the most authentic and entertaining sports game around.

FIFA 14 doesn’t take any major leaps forward, instead focusing on fine-tuning the major innovations the series has taken in the last couple of years. Improved animations and physics lead to a more fluid and realistic looking experience on the pitch, more akin to the real thing than we have ever seen. Sure there are still some problems, there always will be, but FIFA 14 proves the franchise is still going strong even without any drastic changes. I, for one, can’t wait to see how it plays on the new generation of consoles. Stay tuned, I’ll let you know!
