Red Orchestra 2 Goes East With Rising Storm Expansion

Even with the initial Red Orchestra 2 barely out, its developers at have announced plans to release an expansion for the game, which takes place in the Pacific Theater.

Titled Rising Storm, the expansion pack will allow players to take on the roles of US and Imperial Japanese soldiers across sprawling locations like Tarawa, Kwajalein, Saipan, Peleliu and Iwo Jima.

The expansion pack will also see the addition of many new weapons, which includes the flamethrower. Both Japanese and American weapons—like the M1 Garand and M1A1 Thompson—are expected to be in the game.

Players on the Japanese side will be able to set grenade booby traps throughout the map, and perform banzai charges on American forces.

Rising Storm is set for release in 2012, exclusively on the PC.
