Toy Story 3: The Video Game Reviews ps3
1up.com review
Avalanche Software has broken the movie-game stigma for me by releasing the awesome Toy Story 3. Does that mean Disney’s upcoming Tron: Evolution is destined for greatness? Not necessarily — but it tells me Disney is heading in the right direction in capturing the magic from their feature films and translating it to the home videogame console

Lastly, the production values in Toy Story 3 are above expectations. This game looks great and has a superb flair for the “over-the-top.” From the introductary level that is crumbling around you to the excellent lighting showcased in the buzz level, Toy Story 3 is a looker. This continues with the audio portion, which is equally impressive. The sound effects are superb with an all-star voice cast lending a hand in the production. I’m talking about Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Michael Keaton and more. The voice-work, soundtrack (which also supports 7.1 surround sound) is excellent. I could go on and on, so in the perspective of a “kids” game, Avalanche knocked this one out of the park.

It very easily could be the best game for youngsters I’ve ever played, and with my nephew I’ve played a decent number (including that horrendous Teletubbies game back on the PSOne *shudder*). It’s good to be a toy.

Toy Story 3 is an awkward and uneven package at first glance, and the perfunctory and annoying movie levels sour the sweetness of Woody’s Roundup, but not enough to overwhelm the game’s easy charm. With those missteps cast aside, Toy Story 3 is a rare treat that appreciates the fine line between play and playing, and hints at a future where movie tie-ins could actually be something to look forward to.

Toy Story 3 is an example of how to do a license right. With great cooperative play, a short, fun story mode, and an inventive new Toy Box mode, this is one game that’s easy to recommend to anyone who games with family. Older players might be occasionally bored by how simple the game’s quests can be, but in general TS3 manages to be most everything your kids (or your own inner kid) wanted out of a Toy Story game.
